Consumer loans rise in July by 1.6 percent to 264.6 billion drams

YEREVAN, September 28. / ARKA /. The total amount of outstanding consumer loans in July increased by 1.6% to 264.6 billion drams, the Central Bank of Armenia said in a statement posted on its official website.

It says the share of consumer loans in the total credit portfolio of commercial banks in July rose to  18.8%, up 0.4 percentage points compared with the same period of the previous month. Foreign currency loans in the total amount of consumer loans amounted to about 44.5 billion drams, while loans in the national currency, the dram, to more than 220.1 billion drams.

The total amount of outstanding loan portfolio of all banks in late July stood at 1. 410.4 trillion drams, of which 64.3% were foreign currency loans. ($ 1-405,39 drams).  -0-

Central Bank leaves refinancing rate unchanged taking into account high uncertainty in US economic policy

The Central Bank of Armenia decided today to leave the refinancing rate unchanged at 6.75% taking into account a set of factors such as  the continued high uncertainty surrounding the US economic policy, declining confidence in the global economy, growth slowdown and  a possible  weakening demand in Armenia, the head of the regulator Martin Galstyan said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Mechanism to stimulate cashless payments to be developed in Armenia

On Friday, the Armenian government held a meeting on issues related to stimulating cashless payments in the country.
