Armenian banking system liabilities grew by 7.17% to 2,145.1 bln drams in Q1

YEREVAN, April 18. /ARKA/. Aggregate liabilities of Armenia’s banking system rose by 7.17% to 2,145.1 billion drams as of the end of March, compared to the beginning of the year.

An analysis made by Arka News Agency showed that Ameriabank had the highest total liabilities among Armenia’s banks – 270.8 billion drams, an increase of 29.96% against the beginning of the year. Ameriabank’s share in the overall aggregate liabilities of the banking system is 12.6%.

Bank VTB (Armenia) recorded the second highest volume of total liabilities, 206.9bln drams (14.01% increase), followed by ACBA_CREDIT AGRICOLE BANK with 202.3bln drams (1.56% increase), Ardshininvestbank with over 185.2bln drams (10.17% increase) and HSBC Bank Armenia, about 184.4bln drams (an increase of 4.81%).

There were 21 commercial banks operating in Armenia as of the end of March 2012. ($1=416.65drams).  –0—

The average market exchange rate of the U.S. dollar to the Armenian dram on March 7, 2025, remained at 394.58 drams, unchanged compared to March 6.

Central Bank leaves refinancing rate unchanged taking into account high uncertainty in US economic policy

The Central Bank of Armenia decided today to leave the refinancing rate unchanged at 6.75% taking into account a set of factors such as  the continued high uncertainty surrounding the US economic policy, declining confidence in the global economy, growth slowdown and  a possible  weakening demand in Armenia, the head of the regulator Martin Galstyan said at a press conference on Tuesday.
