Private remittances to Armenia from abroad in April grew by 19 percent from a year before

YEREVAN, June 7. /ARKA/. The amount of private remittances sent to Armenia in April 2013 via banks for non-commercial purposes increased by 18.6 percent from 2012 April to $131.4 million, the Central Bank said in a statement posted on its official website.

In the same time span the amount of money transfers made from Armenia to other countries grew to $29 million from $22.9 million in 2012 April. The net amount of remittances to Armenia in April this year stood at $102.4 million, up from $87.8 million in 2012 April.

As usual, the largest portion of remittances from abroad came from Russia -$109.6 million, while the amount of money transfers from Armenia to Russia was $17.6 million.

According to Central Bank data, a total of $436.9 million were remitted to Armenia in the first four months of this year, while the amount of remittances from Armenia to other countries stood at $99 million. ($1 – 414.92 drams). -0-
