Loan portfolio of Armenian banks grew by 11.6 percent last year to 1.776.5 trillion drams

YEREVAN, February 1. / ARKA /. At the end of December 2013 the loan portfolio of Armenian commercial banks stood at 1.776.5 trillion drams, an increase of 11.6% compared to December 2012, the National Statistical Service said.

Their credit investments grew by 8.5 percent to 1.658.7 trillion drams. Credits in foreign currency amounted to 1.030.8 trillion drams and credits in Armenian national currency stood at 627.8 billion drams.

Overdue loans at the end of December 2013 stood at 21.3 billion drams, having more than doubled from the year before making 1.2% of total loans. About 20.2 billion drams of overdue loans were short-term loans.

Extended loans in 2013 amounted to about 96.5 billion drams, having increased by 77.5%. Of that amount about 64.1 billion drams were short-term loans. -0-
