Total deposits in 21 Armenia-based banks drop 3.7 percent in January to 1.6 trillion drams

YEREVAN, March 14. / ARKA /. The total amount of deposits kept in 21 Armenia-based commercial banks stood at over 1.6 trillion drams in late January 2014, 3.7% down from December 2013, the Central Bank says in its monthly bulletin for January.

The amount of resident deposits declined by 0.8 percent from late December to 1.140 trillion drams, and non-resident deposits declined by about 11 percent to  412.8 billion drams.

The resident deposits in the national currency decreased by 2.1% to about 450.5 billion drams, while deposits in foreign currency  increased by 0.1 percent to  more than 689.6 billion drams.  ($1 – 414.97 drams). 0-
