Online transactions in January dropped by 22 percent in January to 1.9 billion drams

YEREVAN, March 14. / ARKA /. Banking cards issued by Armenian and foreign banks were used in January 2014 in Armenia to make 1.9 billion drams worth Internet-based transactions, the Central Bank of Armenia said in its monthly bulletin. According to it, the figure represented a 22.2 percent slash from 2013 December.

The total number of online transactions in the reporting period dropped by 15 percent from December to 106,795. Overall, these cards were used to make 65.2 billion drams worth transactions in Armenia, 45.8% down from December, and the total number of transactions fell by 35 percent to 1,425,730.

These cards were used also to make 48.9 billion drams worth transactions via ATMs, a 48 percent decline from December, while the total number of such transactions slashed by 38 percent to 1,122,694.

The amount of transactions through POS- terminals and imprinters was down almost 40 percent to 14.4 billion drams, while the total number of such transactions fell by 26 percent to 196,241. ($ 1 – 414.97 drams). -0-
