Bank deposits rose by 22.4% to 1.5trln drams in Armenia in February

YEREVAN, April 4. /ARKA/. Deposits in Armenia’s commercial banks exceeded 1,551.5 billion drams as of the end of February, an increase of 22.4% compared to February 2013, ArmStat told ARKA.

Deposits from residents amounted to a total of 1,161.7 billion drams, a 17.2% increase.

Deposits from residents in local currency were 449.9bln drams (22.9% increase), those in foreign currency amounted to 711.8bln drams (13.9% increase).

Call deposits from residents were about 329.8bln drams (6.3% increase) or 28.4% of all deposits, including 175.6bln in drams and 154.2bln in foreign currency.

Time deposits amounted to 831.9bln drams in February (22.1% increase), including 274.3bln in drams and 557.6bln drams in foreign currency.

There were a total of 21 commercial banks registered in Armenia as of the end of February 2014. ($1- 414.84 drams). N.V. –0–
