Armenian commercial banks’ interest spread reaches 7% in May

YEREVAN, July 1. /ARKA/. Armenian commercial banks’ interest spread has increased 1.37 percentage points since the beginning of this year reaching 7% in May, the National Statistical Service reports.

Compared with April, it rose 1.3 percentage points.

Interest spread that shows a difference between loan and deposit interest rates is one of the most important criteria for estimating the sate of countries’ banking sectors.

According to the statistical report, banks’ average lending interest rate rose from 15.82% in April to 17% in May, and their average interest rate on deposits climbed from 10.12% in April to 10.55 in May.
