Six ethnic Armenians are among 200 richest Russian citizens

YEREVAN, April 16. / ARKA /. Six Russian businessmen of Armenian origin are in the latest Forbes’ list of the 2000 richest Russian citizens.

According to Forbes rating, Russia’s richest Armenian is Samvel Karapetyan (head of Tashir Group), who has retained his 26th position with the $4 billion fortune ($0.3 billion less from the previous rating).

Daniel Khachaturov (Rosgosstrakh insurance company and RTS Bank) is 54th with $1.6 billion fortune. His position deteriorated by 14 points, and the wealth slashed by $1 billion.
Ruben Vardanyan has risen 32 positions in the rating to the 92nd place with $0.95 billion. It has grown by $0.1 billion.

Brothers Nikolai and Sergei Sarkisov (RESO-Garantia insurance company) are 105th and 102nd respectively, seven notches down from last year’s rating. Each brother has $0.9 billion. Last yea they lost $0.2 billion. Investor Albert Avdolyan with $0.75 billion is 120th. He has risen by 13 points.

Metals tycoon Vladimir Potanin has become Russia’s wealthiest businessman with an estimated fortune of $15.4 billion, overtaking Alisher Usmanov who had worn the crown for three years in a row.

Potanin, the chief executive and co-owner of nickel and palladium miner Norilsk Nickel, has seen his wealth rise $2.8 billion over the past year, propelling him from the No. 8 position he held in 2013.

Usmanov slid to the No. 3 position as his fortune tumbled $4.2 billion to $14.4 billion. He is co-owner of Russian metals firm Metalloinvest, No.2 mobile operator MegaFon, Internet group Mail.ru, and the British Premier League football club Arsenal.

Mikhail Fridman, co-owner of Alfa-Bank and the biggest investor behind emerging markets telecoms operator Vimpelcom Ltd and Russia’s No.2 food retailer X5, remained Russia’s second-richest tycoon with wealth of $14.6 billion although his fortune fell by $3 billion from a year ago.
Potanin was also ranked 60th in the Forbes’ list of the world’s richest people, topped by Microsoft Corp. co-founder Bill Gates
