Non-performing assets of banks fall to 9.06 percent

YEREVAN, May 16. /ARKA/. The share of non-performing and written-off assets of Armenian banks in late March 2016 decreased by 0.12 percentage points from the previous month to 9.06%, according to the monthly bulletin of the Central Bank for March 2016.

The Central Bank said Armenian residents accounted for 8.90% of non-performing and written-off assets.

Consumer loans accounted for 1.69% of the non-performing assets while the manufacturing sector accounted for 1.60%.

The share of non-performing assets in trade made 1.20%, in agriculture – 0.87%, in construction – 0.81%, in other sectors of the economy-0.68% and in mortgage lending – 0 57%.

The total amount of commercial banks’ assets in the 1st quarter of 2016 stood at about 3.546. 9 trillion drams. To date, Armenia has 20 registered commercial banks. ($ 1 – 479.34 drams). -0-
