Private money transfers to Armenia up 71% in December 2016

YEREVAN, February 1. /ARKA/. Over $211.5 million came to Armenia through commercial banks in December 2016 as individual noncommercial transfers – 71.1% more than in the previous month and 25% more than in December 2015, the Central Bank of Armenia says on its official website.

The central bank says about $109 million was sent from Armenia abroad in December 2016 against $101.1 million in December 2015. The amount sent outside in December 2016 was 63.17% greater than in the previous months.

Net inflow amounted to $102.5 million in December 2016 against $66.8 million in December 2015 and 80.5% more than in November 2016.

Money transfers from Russia grew 25.4% in December 2016 compared with the previous month and 6.6% compared with the same month a year before, to $94.1 million.

According to the report, $27.9 million was transferred from Armenia to Russia in December 2016 – 11.83% more than in November 2016, but 42% less than in December 2015.

The central bank’s preliminary calculation shows that the inflow of money transfers to Armenia in 2016 totaled $1 532.8 million (6% decline) and the outflow amounted to $816.9 million (7.3% growth).

As a result, the net inflow amounted to about $715.9 million in 2016 showing a 17% year-on-year decline. ($1 – 486.50). –0—-
