Savings deposits in Armenian banks grew by 1.4% in one month

YEREVAN, April 4. / ARKA /. Total savings deposits in Armenia-based commercial banks amounted to 2 405.8 trillion drams at the end of February, an increase of 1.4% over the previous month, according to numbers, released today by the Central Bank. It said residents’ deposits grew by 2.4% to 1.806.4 trillion drams.

Dram deposits of residents in the reporting period were said to have increased by 4.3% to 729.3 billion drams, while deposits in foreign currencies rose by 1.2% to the equivalent of 1.077 billion drams. At the same time, demand deposits of residents increased by 3.3% to 232.9 billion drams, while term deposits grew by 4.8% to 496.4 billion drams.

Demand deposits in foreign currencies amounted to the equivalent of 254.5 billion drams, having grown by 1.2%, while term deposits increased by 1.1% to the equivalent of 822.5 billion drams. As of the end of February 2017, deposits of non-residents decreased by 1.7% to 599.4 billion drams. ($ 1- 483.83 drams) .-0-
