World Bank will continue supporting reforms in Armenia – WB Regional Director

YEREVAN, June `12. /ARKA/. The World Bank will continue to support Armenia in the coming years in implementing its reform agenda, Roland Price, the newly appointed WB Regional Director for the South Caucasus, said on Friday at a meeting with Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan.

The meeting was attended by Sebastian Molineus, the current WB Regional Director, whose term in office is ending, the deputy prime minister’s office reported.

During the meeting, Molineus highly appreciated the effective cooperation with the Armenian government in such areas as energy, education, social protection and healthcare.

Thanking Molineus, Khachatryan expressed confidence that all the necessary prerequisites have been created for the effective implementation of the ongoing programs.

In the course of the meeting the interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues related to the current and future programs of cooperation between the Armenian Government and the World Bank.

Carolin Geginat, WB Country Manager for Armenia, also participated in the meeting.

The World Bank has invested $1.6 billion in Armenia in 57 programs during the 20 years of its operations in the country. Currently, 14 projects are being implemented in Armenia on the WB financial means in the spheres of transport, water economy, energy efficiency, agrarian sector, SMEs, judicial and legal reforms, education and state sector. –0—
