Head of Central Bank of Armenia discusses reforms and financial system risks with IMF representatives

YEREVAN, 18 September. /ARKA/. Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia Martin Galstyan met on Wednesday with a delegation led by IMF mission chief for Armenia Iva Petrova.

The visit takes place within the framework of the fourth revision of the IMF loan programme, the regulator said.

A number of issues related to Armenia’s macroeconomic developments and prospects were discussed with the IMF colleagues.

The sides discussed reforms and risks of the financial system, risk-based supervision, as well as governance reforms of the Central Bank.

On 12 December 2022, the IMF Executive Board approved a 36-month credit line (SBA) to Armenia that supports the authorities’ efforts to preserve macroeconomic, financial, and fiscal stability and advance the domestic economic agenda.

In June 2023, the IMF Executive Board completed the first review under the arrangement, granting Armenia access to SDR 18.4 million (about $24.5 million), the second review for SDR 18.4 million (about $24.4 million) in December of that year, and the third review for SDR 18.4 million ($24.5 million) in June of this year.

100 million euros will be allocated for business development in Armenia: ACBA Bank

CBA Bank, in a new partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, will allocate 100 million euros to the development of businesses operating in Armenia, with the EBRD bearing the risk of 50 million euros of the financing.
