Armenia’s overall state debt rises to $12.5 bln in August

YEREVAN, October 7. /ARKA/. Armenia’s total state debt as of August 31, 2024 amounted to over $12.4 billion, having increased by $129.1 mln from the previous month, the National Statistical Committee said.

On December 31, 2023 the state debt stood at over $11.8 billion. In late August $6.3 billion was  the external debt growing  by $37.870 million from July while the domestic debt increased by $91.3 million to over $6,1 billion.

The government’s external debt increased by $30.326 mln to about $5.8 bln.  The debt of the Central Bank increased by $30.326 mln to about $520.230 mln.

In the structure of domestic debt, $5,591.816 mln (an increase of $91.669 mln) were owed to resident holders of state treasury bonds. The debt to holders of foreign currency government bonds amounted to $555.469 mln with a decline of $0.370 million and domestic guarantees of the government amounted to  $17.668 million. with a decrease of $0.069 mln -0-.
