Armenia’s total public debt increased to $12.9 billion as of January 2025.

YEREVAN, March 7. /ARKA/. The total public debt of Armenia as of January 31, 2025, amounted to $12,886.996 million, an increase of $44.756 million compared to December 31, 2024. This is stated in the report by the National Statistical Committee of Armenia.

As of December 31, 2024, the public debt stood at $12,842.240 million.

In dram terms, as of January 31, 2025, the public debt amounted to 5,127,993.3 million drams, marking an increase of 35,274.8 million drams over the month. On December 31, 2024, the public debt was 5,092,718.5 million drams.

In the structure of the total debt, $6,435.868 million represents external debt (which decreased by $18.284 million over the month), while domestic debt increased by $63.040 million in January, totaling $6,451.128 million. In dram terms, external debt increased by 1,502.2 million drams by the end of January, amounting to 2,560,960.5 million drams, while internal debt grew by 33,772.5 million drams to reach 2,567,032.8 million drams.

Within the structure of external debt, government debt decreased by $15.411 million, totaling $5,934.728 million at the end of January 2025, while the Central Bank’s debt decreased by $2.873 million, totaling $501.139 million. In dram terms, the government debt increased by 1,960.0 million drams to reach 2,361,547.1 million drams, while the Central Bank’s debt decreased by 457.8 million drams, amounting to 199,413.4 million drams.

Regarding domestic debt, $5,870.665 million (an increase of $63.255 million) consists of government treasury bonds purchased by residents (in dram terms, 2,336,055.1 million drams, an increase of 33,068.4 million drams). Government bonds in foreign currency purchased by residents amounted to $557.199 million, increasing by $0.580 million (in dram terms, 221,720.6 million drams, an increase of 987.8 million drams). Domestic guarantees accounted for $23.264 million, decreasing by $0.795 million (in dram terms, 9,257.1 million drams, a decrease of 283.6 million drams).
