Armenia to Receive $150 Million Loan from ADB to Finance State Budget Deficit

YEREVAN, January 23. /ARKA/. At a meeting on Thursday, the Armenian government approved a proposal to sign a $150 million loan agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) under the “Fiscal Sustainability and Financial Markets Development. Subprogram 3” program.

According to the decision’s rationale, the signing of the agreement is necessary to ensure the implementation of the RA Law “On the State Budget of the Republic of Armenia for 2025.”

The document notes that the total need for budget support loans in Armenia, planned to be attracted from international financial institutions, is estimated at approximately $675 million.

For this reason, the Armenian Ministry of Finance has initiated the process of securing a $150 million support loan from ADB, which will be used to finance the state budget deficit.

The interest rate on the loan is floating. The loan term is 15 years, including a three-year grace period.

About the Asian Development Bank

These include projects in transport, energy, water supply, and urban infrastructure. In the private sector, ADB supports utilities and infrastructure, financial institutions, and agribusiness.
