Armenia’s loan portfolio has grown by approximately 20% annually for the past three years: Central Bank Governor

YEREVAN, May 5. /ARKA/. Armenia’s loan portfolio has grown by approximately 20% annually for the past three years, Central Bank Governor Martin Galstyan announced at a parliamentary session on Tuesday.

“If we look at the cumulative aspect, we see high demand. With this level of demand, it’s difficult to imagine a price reduction,” Galstyan noted.

According to him, capital buffers have been introduced in the banking system, which has resulted in higher resource costs for banks.

Galstyan also reported that consumer and mortgage loans in Armenia are currently issued primarily in Armenian drams, without a dollar component.

He stated that by 2025, rates on approximately 9,000 loans in the mortgage market will have decreased, rates on 3,000 loans will have increased, and rates on approximately 60,000 loans will remain unchanged. ($1 – 370.44 drams).
