YEREVAN, July 9. /ARKА/. At a meeting on Thursday, the Armenian government approved the procedure for accruing bonus points within the universal health insurance system.
First Deputy Minister of Health of Armenia Lena Nanushyan announced that the procedure will come into force on January 1, 2029.
According to her, the decision will allow for the development of electronic tools and other necessary preparatory work.
“The law stipulates that, to encourage a healthy lifestyle, insured persons are awarded bonus points if no insurance compensation has been registered for them within a year, with the exception of preventive services, such as screenings. In this case, preliminary bonus points are transferred to the citizen’s bonus account at the end of the year,” Nanushyan said.
According to her, additional indicators related to public health are also included.
“For example, if an insured person is a voluntary blood donor and demonstrates improved healthy lifestyle indicators—normalizing their body mass index, quitting smoking—then additional coefficients are applied to the bonuses,” she noted.
Nanushyan stated that the final bonus points will not exceed 10% of the annual insurance premium. Accumulated points at the end of the year can be used to pay the insurance premium, purchase a voluntary health insurance package, cover co-payments, and access fitness centers and swimming pools.
