June foreign currency deposits by Armenia’s households total AMD 395.5 bln

YEREVAN, August 8. /ARKA/. Deposits opened in foreign currency by households in Armenia increased by 5.8% to 395.5 billion drams in June from May of 2012, according to the data available on Armenian Central Bank’s website.

At the same time, June term foreign currency deposits totaled 328.8 billion drams or 83% of the total household deposits in foreign currency, up by 5.8% from May.

Deposits opened in drams by households rose by 3.3% to nearly 163.3 billion drams within the reported period. Total volume of deposits in commercial banks of Armenia climbed 2.4% to nearly 1070 billion drams in June from May.

As of June 30, 2012, there are 21 commercial banks in Armenia. ($1 – 413 drams).—0–
