Car insurance compensations surge by 32% to 3.6 bln drams in Armenia in April

YEREVAN, June 5. /ARKA/. Armenia’s insurance companies paid a total of about 3,648.7 million drams in 18,330 car insurance compensation payments in January-April, an increase of 32% compared to January-March level, the website of Armenia’s car insurers’ bureau says.

There were over 371,400 vehicles insured in Armenia as of the end of April (0.96% increase over April). Total number of compensation claims exceeded 18,180 (31.7%); only some 150 claims were turned down, according to the report.

Compensation worth a total of 137.52mln drams is still under way.
Insurance bonuses amounted to a total of about 8.2bln drams over the four months, an 11.7% increase over April.

The Council of Europe's Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and the Financing of Terrorism (MONEYVAL) noted Armenia's progress in developing its system for combating financial crime, but recommended strengthening the effectiveness of money laundering investigations, asset confiscation, and oversight of certain economic sectors.
