Armenian payment cards used outside the country to make 6.3 billion drams worth transactions in January

YEREVAN, March 12. / ARKA /. Armenian banks-issued payment cards were used outside the country to make 6.3 billion drams worth transactions in January, an increase of 44.7 % over the previous month, the Central Bank of Armenia said in its monthly bulletin for the first month of the year.

The number of transactions surged by 29 percent to 106,300.

The amount of non-cash transactions grew to about 4.8 billion drams, a 54.6% rise form December 2013.

The cards were used also to withdraw outside the country an equivalent of 1.53 billion drams, an almost 21 percent rise from December 2013.

Twenty-one Armenia-based banks issue and service all types of banking cards; 19 of them are members of the single national payment system ArCa ($ 1 – 414.94 drams). -0-
