Interest rates going down in Armenia – central bank

YEREVAN, December 19. /ARKA/. Interest rates on both deposits and loans are going down throughout the last few years, Andranik Grigoryan, chief of the Armenian central bank’s division in charge of stability and development of the country’s financial system, told journalists on Tuesday.

He said that significant decrease in interest rates is seen, but it is still difficult to indicate particular average figures, though interest rates on mortgage loans stood at 12- 12.5% I 2017, while in 2018 they shed to 10-11.5%.

Some banks, he said, provide mortgage loans even at 9 – 9.5% interest rates.

According to the central bank’s figures, interest rates on deposits and loans slid in November. In particular, dram-denominated up-to-one-year deposits slipped 0.7 percentage points to 8.1%, and on dram-denominated loans went 0.59 percentage points down to 12.36%. -0—
