Armenia and China deepen co-operation in financial and banking sector

YEREVAN, 4 November. /ARKA/. A delegation of the Armenian Central Bank led by Central Bank Deputy Governor Hovhannes Khachatryan visited China on 20-27 October.

During the visit, a number of important meetings were organized to deepen cooperation in the financial and banking field, the press service of the Central Bank of Armenia reported.
The Armenian delegation had meetings with the representatives of the People’s Bank of China to discuss the exchange of experience in the field of payment accounting.

The expansion of cooperation in the area of mutual settlements in yuan and cooperation in the capital markets was discussed with Lin Jingzhen, Deputy Executive Director of the Bank of China.

The compatibility of card and QR as well as online and business-to-business payments was discussed with Jufeng Dong, Chairman of the Board of China Union Pay.

A memorandum of understanding was signed in Shanghai between China Union Pay and Armenian Card companies on deepening co-operation in the field of payments.

The delegation of the Central Bank of Armenia had an opportunity to get acquainted with the latest solutions of China Union Pay, Huawei, Cross-Border Interbank Payment System (CIPS) and other technological companies.

The Sibos conference organized by SWIFT also included meetings with representatives of Clearstream, the European Central Bank, ICBC Bank and other financial institutions.

‘This visit opens great opportunities for the development of Armenian-Chinese financial and banking co-operation in new directions, and a solid basis is being created for further expansion of co-operation,’ the Central Bank of Armenia said. -0-
