Armenia’s total public debt exceeded $14 billion as of March 2026

YEREVAN, May 13. /ARKA/. Armenia’s total public debt as of March 31, 2026, amounted to $14,077.138 million, a decrease of $57.761 million compared to February 28, 2026. This is according to a report by the National Statistical Committee of Armenia.

On December 31, 2025, the public debt amounted to $13,906.036 million.

Meanwhile, in dram terms, as of March 31, 2026, the public debt amounted to 5,314,682.6 million drams, a decrease of 14,174.2 million drams over the month. As of December 31, 2025, the national debt amounted to 5,303,205.8 million drams.

Of the total debt, $14,068.954 million is government debt (down $57.545 million over the month), and $8.184 million is community debt (down $0.216 million over the month). In dram equivalent, government debt decreased by 14,097.1 million drams in March to 5,311,593.0 million drams, while community debt decreased by 77.0 million drams to 3,089.6 million drams. In the government debt structure, external debt (including external loans and borrowings; government treasury bonds purchased by non-residents; government bonds in foreign currency purchased by non-residents) decreased by $84.892 million and amounted to $6,672.606 million at the end of March 2026, while internal debt (including government treasury bonds purchased by residents; government bonds in foreign currency purchased by residents) increased by $27.347 to $7,396.348 million. At the same time, in dram equivalent, external debt decreased by 28,400.9 million drams to 2,519,175.8 million drams, while internal debt increased by 14,303.7 million drams and amounted to 2,792,417.1 million drams.

In the community debt structure, external debt (including external loans and credits) decreased by $0.216 million to $8.031 million, while domestic debt (including domestic loans and credits; bonds purchased by residents) remained unchanged over the month and amounted to $0.153 million at the end of March. In dram equivalent, external debt decreased by 77.0 million drams to 3,032.0 million drams, while domestic debt remained unchanged at 57.6 million drams at the end of March.

The Central Bank’s external debt amounted to $482.377 million (a decrease of $2.879 over the month) or 182,116.6 million drams in dram equivalent (a decrease of 824.7 million drams).
