YEREVAN, September 23. /ARKA/. Armenian Dram Day will be celebrated this year within the framework of the DigiTec 2026 technology exhibition through a large-scale fintech conference, announced Edita Ghazaryan, Executive Director of the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE).
“On November 22, Armenian Dram Day will be celebrated jointly with the Central Bank of Armenia as part of DigiTec, with a major fintech conference dedicated to the occasion,” Ghazaryan said on Wednesday at a press conference dedicated to DigiTec 2026.
DigiTec 2026 will take place in Yerevan from November 20 to 22. Thus, the final day of the technology exhibition will coincide with the 33rd anniversary of the introduction of Armenia’s national currency.
About Armenian Dram Day
The national currency of the Republic of Armenia—the dram—was put into circulation on November 22, 1993. Initially, banknotes with denominations of 10, 25, 50, 100, 200, and 500 drams were issued. The exchange of Soviet rubles was conducted at a rate of 200 rubles per dram.
Subsequently, the monetary system underwent repeated modernization. The second series of Armenian banknotes began circulation in 1998, while the third series was introduced in 2018 to mark the 25th anniversary of the national currency. The exclusive right to issue the national currency belongs to the Central Bank of Armenia.
About DigiTec
DigiTec is Armenia’s largest technology exhibition, organized since 2005 by the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE). The idea for its creation came from Karen Vardanyan, the longtime Executive Director of UATE.
In 2025, the milestone 20th edition of DigiTec attracted over 30,000 visitors, more than 200 exhibiting companies, and over 100 international speakers. DigiTec 2026 will take place in Yerevan on November 20–22. Participation by around 200 companies and up to 150 international speakers is expected.
