Idle assets of Armenia’s commercial banks hit 5.97% in May

YEREVAN, July 11. /ARKA/. The portion of idle and written- off assets rose by 0.41 percentage points in May from April to 5.97% in Armenia, the Central Bank reported.

According to the central bank, idle and written- off assets of Armenian residents accounted for 5.88%.

Consumer loans and processing industry accounted for the highest share of idle assets – 1.53% (against 1.42% in April) and about 0.88% (0.6% in April) respectively.

Commerce accounted for about 0.85%, construction for 0.79%, mortgage loans for 0.5% and other sectors for 0.34%. Idle assets in financial sector were 0.01%.

Total volume of the assets at Armenia’s commercial banks amounted to about 2,908 billion drams as of the end of May 2014.

There were a total of 21 commercial banks in Armenia as of May 31 2014. ($1=407.42 drams).–0–
