Central Bank of Armenia maintains refinancing rate due to  balance of supply and demand – Galstyan

YEREVAN, February 3. /ARКА/. The Central Bank of Armenia’s Board has opted to keep the refinancing rate steady, primarily because of the balance between supply and demand,  stated  the head of the bank, Martin Galstyan.

On February 3, the refinancing rate was held at 6.5%. The Lombard repo rate and the cash attraction rate remained unchanged at 8.00% and 5.00% respectively.

“In our economy, there is no significant gap, or it is minimal – the difference between potential GDP and its actual growth is very slight,” Galstyan mentioned during a press conference on Tuesday.

Additionally, he noted that the refinancing rate of the Central Bank of Armenia is nearly at the neutral rate.

“Thus, after evaluating scenarios A and B, the Central Bank’s Board concluded that it is wiser to keep the rate unchanged,” the head of the regulator remarked.

Since June 2023, the Central Bank of Armenia has been consistently reducing the refinancing rate, lowering it from 10.75% to 6.75% in February 2025. On December 16, 2025, the rate was further decreased to 6.5%, a move attributed to the deceleration of inflation and its alignment with the target range.-0-
