Deposits in Armenian commercial banks exceeded 7.5 trillion drams at the end of March

YEREVAN, May 15. /ARKA/. Deposits in commercial banks in Armenia at the end of March 2026 amounted to 7,581,163 million drams, compared to 7,418,404 million drams in February. This is according to data from the Statistical Committee.

Moreover, deposits from non-residents in March amounted to 1.61 trillion drams, compared to 1.55 trillion drams in February, and from residents – 5.97 trillion drams, compared to 5.87 trillion drams the previous month.

The report notes that the figure for deposits from non-residents at the end of March includes demand deposits, including accounts, and time deposits of non-resident organizations, households, non-profit organizations, and non-bank financial institutions.

In the structure of residents’ dram deposits, which amounted to 4.02 trillion drams compared to 3.95 trillion drams in February, demand deposits, including accounts, amounted to 1.60 trillion drams at the end of March, compared to 1.58 trillion drams the previous month, and time deposits amounted to 2.42 trillion drams compared to 2.37 trillion drams.

Of residents’ foreign currency deposits totaling AMD 1,953,391 million, up from AMD 1,919,307 million in February, demand deposits, including accounts, totaled AMD 807.4 billion in March, up from AMD 770.4 billion the previous month, while time deposits totaled AMD 1.14 trillion, up from AMD 1.15 trillion in February.

The balance of deposits attracted from households in Armenian banks at the end of March 2026 amounted to AMD 3,407,737 million, up 0.4% from the previous month and 17.9% from the same period in 2025.

The interest rate on commercial bank deposits was 7.97% in March, up from 7.77% in February. ($1 = AMD 368.23)
